Profile of the Programme
The aim of the programme is to enable students to acquire the first degree in law which would allow them to be admitted to the legal profession or to work as a legal consultant by developing skills and abilities pertinent to a lawyer, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, self-motivation and specialized knowledge of the law. The programme has been recognized by the Cypriot Legal Council for the purposes of professional recognition of the degree and by DOATAP in Greece and other organizations. The basic philosophy of the Faculty is to have a character of a forum where students could gain, in addition to basic professional knowledge, a scientific legal approach to follow and participate in the permanent development of the world facing the challenge of globalization. The Bachelor of Law (BLaw) program at Dar Al-Hekma University is the first law program for women in Saudi Arabia that has a dual-language curriculum in law. Since its inception in 2007, the program has been offering courses in general law and Sharia law, in both English and Arabic.
In addition, the BLaw program is the first program in the Kingdom's West region that teaches international law. Combining theory and skills courses, the legal studies curriculum enables students to learn Saudi law, Sharia law, and international law. Students also learn legal drafting in both Arabic and English.
